As countries around the world are accelerating vaccination, Google announced that it will add a digital vaccination record card function to Android phones to facilitate users to access relevant information or quickly show it to those who need to be checked. This feature will be launched first in the United States, and will be gradually expanded to other countries.
Google obtains vaccination information from websites, apps, e-mails, etc. through data provided by medical organizations, local governments, or vaccination units. After the user sets the storage, it will be stored in the Android device in the form of a "COVID Card". The results of the new coronavirus test also apply to this feature.
After the setting is completed, the user can quickly open it through the shortcut on the main screen of the mobile phone, even when it is offline or in locations with weak network signals. The COVID Card will display the user's virus test results, or the type and date of vaccination.
Google emphasizes that each COVID Card data is stored in an Android device individually, and Google will not retain the relevant data, nor pass it to a third party or use it for commercial activities. If users want to store the COVID Card on multiple devices or share vaccination information with others, they must manually set it up.
