Indonesia announces implementation of anti-dumping punitive tariffs

The Indonesian Ministry of Finance issued a statement on the 12th, saying that after an investigation, it was found that nylon film materials from Taiwan, China and Thailand were dumped. Therefore, it was decided that starting from this month, anti-dumping penalty tariffs would be applied to raw materials from the above three origins and would last for four years.

Reuters reported that the Indonesian Ministry of Finance issued an announcement on the 12th, stating that after an investigation by the country’s anti-dumping committee, it was found that nylon membranes (nylon film) from Taiwan, China and Thailand film) materials, there is dumping, which has seriously damaged the development of related domestic industries in Indonesia. Therefore, anti-dumping punitive tariffs will be imposed from this month, with tax rates ranging from 1,254 Indonesian rupiah (approximately NT$2.51) to 31,510 Indonesian rupiah (approximately NT$63.09) per kilogram, and will last for 4 years.

The report pointed out that according to an announcement from the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, Chinese companies facing the impact of this tax rate include Kunshan Yuncheng Plastic Co., Ltd., Heshan Yuncheng New Materials Co., Ltd., Thailand's AJ Plast and Taiwan-related material manufacturing companies.

The report stated that nylon films are mostly used in industrial packaging, pharmaceutical packaging, electronics, textiles and other industries, with a wide range of applications. Since China is Indonesia's largest trading partner, the implementation of this wave of sanctions may trigger a new wave of trade wars in Southeast Asia.
